My first time to make this using the cassava we got from our garden. It was a hit!

Food Friday : Roast Beef

Our dinner few days ago served ala Pancake style. Roast beef with mushroom sauce on top of a bread with mashed potato on the side. Maybe it will take a while before I'll cook this again. Or beef for that matter. What with the high cost of LPG now. I don't want to waste money on gas just for tenderizing the meat. It took me several hours before the meat became tender! Gah! Which reminds me, we need to buy pugon for that purpose. Why not a pressure cooker? Well, I have a phobia in using one. I once saw how it exploded in my cousin's kitchen. Takot ako!

Silly Hats and Candles

My angel's daughter's birthday. She spent it in our house. Simple celebration. I made newspaper (silly) hats for the kids on the spot. Just to inject some fun. Pretty ba?

{little lady, birthday girl, 2 friends of the birthday girl}

Prepared, menudo, breaded fried chicken, pansit bihon, and sandwich. Bought cakes too. One for the birthday girl and one for the little lady. Of course, she gets to blow candles too! She was happy and bragging about it the whole time - that she blew the candles on her cake.

When she turned 2 last year, she did not blow her candles. I don't know. maybe she doesn't know how yet, nahihiya or umaarte lang. The moment she woke up I gave her something so she could blow candles already. She cried! And did not blow the candles!

{Those are crinkles with lengua de dato (instead of cupcakes as I planned it but forgot to buy). Both came from Baguio courtesy of MIL.
}

Then we had lunch at Grenhills' House of Minis. While having lunch, nag-black-out! Ang sabi, may raid daw ang OMB. I don't know if it was true. Anyway, it was taking so long na, the waiters decided to put lighted candles on the table. All of a sudden the LittleLady started singing happy birthday and wanted to blow the candle!

{masama ang tingin sa kandila}

Come dinner time, and cake blowing time (again), the Little Lady won't budge to blow the candles! Maryosep!

Food Friday : Tinomok

My favorite comfort food from Gerry's Grill. It is a bicolano dish. My tita, who is a bicolana, cooks a really mean tinomok. Her version is really good because she uses the coco juice (instead of water) to get the 2nd extract of the coco milk to give a hint of sweetness to the sauce. She also uses pure ground shrimp. Gerry's version however, has ground pork. Tinomok is made up of ground shrimp (and pork), wrapped in gabi leaves and cooked in coconut milk.

Definitely a must try!

Tuna Sandwich

Just mix a can of drained tuna flakes, 1 sachet of tuna sandwich spread, few slices of celery and a dash of pepper. That's it! Spread onto the bread, top with cucumber and lettuce with few drizzles of mustard.
